In an effort to better understand what it takes to restore reefs through collaboration with tourism services, Coralliance has investigated how exactly tourism can pose a threat to coral reefs, and how to mitigate them. The below literature review ("Restoring Reefs, Empowering Communities: A Holistic Approach to Sustainable Tourism in Okinawa's Coral Reefs" ) has specifically highlighted the importance of collaboration between tourism services, government, academia, and other local stakeholders.
